第一排位置靠“抢”，练习口语对话的伙伴还是靠“抢”，安吉余村村民学习英语“卷”出新高度，一有时间就往村里的“英语角”跑，遇上来村里旅游的国际友人，还丝毫不怯场，纷纷用流利的英语与其侃侃而谈。

In Yucun Village, Anji County, the locals have shown impressive enthusiasm for English learning. The village’s English Corner has thus become one of the most popular places during leisure time, with the front-row seats quickly “snatched up” and partners for practising spoken English in high demand. Even in face of international tourists, these villagers confidently engage in fluent English conversations with them.

“国际化是余村的新标签，学好英语能够方便我们和国际友人交流。我们要用英语讲好余村的绿水青山故事。”余村村民表示，村庄国际化，自己也要与时俱进。这股“敢说不怕错”的劲头感染了村里的在地青年，纷纷主动当起了他们的英语老师。

“Yucun is becoming more international. We want to speak English well and share the beauty of our green mountains and clear waters with global friends,” said the villagers, noting that they will progress together with Yucun’s international development. As they focus more on communication rather than perfection, the digital nomads in the village have been deeply impressed and volunteered as English teachers for these enthusiasts.

余村故事不简单！20世纪90年代，余村人炸山开矿经营水泥厂，几乎家家都成了“万元户”，但村庄环境每况愈下，整天粉尘蔽日，翠竹绿叶变枯叶，白衣晒成灰衣裳……时代潮涌推动浙江大地发生巨变，涟漪随之泛进了小小村庄，余村关停矿山、水泥厂，封山育林，让山有新青春，水有新颜值。

The story of Yucun is extraordinary! In the 1990s, the villagers blasted mountains for mining and operated cement factories, enabling almost every household to earn at least 10,000 yuan a year. However, this prosperity came at an environmental cost, with dust blocking the sun all day, green bamboo leaves withering, and white clothes turning gray from the pollution. Fortunately, the green transition across Zhejiang Province brought waves of transformation to this small village. Yucun shut down its mines and cement factories, and reforested the mountains, giving the natural environment a renewed and refreshed appearance.

2005年8月15日，习近平总书记在浙江工作期间，首次在余村提出了“绿水青山就是金山银山”理念。经过20年的实践，如今余村焕然一新，绿意盎然，新农业、新文旅、新经济协同发展，成为“千万工程”的生动缩影。

On August 15, 2005, during his term as the Secretary of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed the philosophy that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets” for the first time in Yucun. Twenty years of implementing the philosophy have brought a new and green look to Yucun. The village has now achieved coordinated development in rural tourism, modern agriculture, non-traditional cultural tourism, and new economies, becoming a vivid microcosm of the Green Rural Revival Program.

近年来，余村发挥“绿水青山就是金山银山”理念诞生地的优势，运用自身丰富鲜活的生态文明建设实践经验，积极推动生态文明国际传播与合作交流，努力向全世界讲好新时代余村故事、安吉故事、浙江故事、中国故事。

In recent years, Yucun has been leveraging its rich and replicable experience in ecological conservation and actively promoting international communication and cooperation, in an effort to share the stories of Yucun, Anji, Zhejiang, and China in the new era with the world.

2024年3月30日，安吉成立安吉（余村）生态文明国际传播中心，新华社、央视总台、中国外文局等国际传播“国家队”纷纷在安吉设立观察点，借助媒体力量扩大国际传播；强化“借嘴说话”，把握理查德·克莱德曼等海外名人来安吉的重要机会，用他们在海外的知名度为绿水青山故事的国际传播添砖加瓦。

On March 30, 2024, Anji established the Anji (Yucun) Ecological Civilization International Communication Center, in which China’s major international communication players such as Xinhua News Agency, China Media Group, and China International Communications Group set up their observation points to expand international outreach through media. Apart from that, the village has also seized the opportunity of visits by international celebrities such as Richard Clayderman, leveraging their overseas fame to contribute to the global promotion of Yucun’s green transformation.

2024年以来，安吉共接待国外媒体、国际团组126批次超3000人。

Since the beginning of 2024, Anji has welcomed more than 3,000 visitors through 126 visits by foreign media and international delegations.

央视亚非地区语言节目中心携尼日利亚记者赴安吉采访拍摄“奇妙中国行”栏目，讲述余村从废弃矿坑蜕变为时尚乡村的故事，呈现中国乡村振兴的发展和成就，阐释“绿水青山就是金山银山”的生态发展理念。

The Asia-Africa Language Program Center of China Media Group brought Nigerian journalists to Anji to film for the “Wonderful China” series. The program documents Yucun’s transformation from abandoned mines to a fashionable village, highlights the development and achievements of China’s rural revitalization, and illustrates the philosophy that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets.”

联合国前副秘书长、联合国环境规划署前执行主任索尔海姆来到余村有感而发：“这是未来中国的模样，也是未来世界的模样！”联合国世界旅游组织秘书长祖拉布∙波洛利卡什维利不远万里来到余村，亲授“最佳旅游乡村”牌匾时脱口而出：“这里真是一个好地方！”

Erik Solheim, former UN Under-Secretary-General and former Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme, hailed Yucun during his visit there, “This is the future of China, and the future of the world!” Similarly, Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization, made a special trip to Yucun and exclaimed while presenting the village “Best Tourism Village” plaque, “This is truly a wonderful place!”

壮大力量，营造“万船出海”新格局。安吉联合复旦大学全球传播全媒体研究院副院长张志安教授等专家学者，常态化开展国际传播课题研究、海外友人参观培训等工作，助力余村故事、绿色发展故事走向全球。

To forge a new landscape of international engagement, Anji has collaborated with experts like Professor Zhang Zhi’an, Deputy Director of the Institute for Global Communication and Integrated Media at Fudan University, to regularly conduct research on international communication topics, organize visits and training sessions for overseas friends, and evaluate international communication cases. These efforts help bring the stories of Yucun and green development to the world.

来自阿塞拜疆语言大学孔子学院的18名学生慕名在余村进行生态文明体验后，表示“我要把余村带回家”；乌干达等上百家境内外媒体更是聚焦余村，惊叹安吉的绿色发展。

After immersing themselves in Yucun’s ecological practices, 18 students from the Confucius Institute at Azerbaijan University of Languages said, “I want to take Yucun home with me.” Over 100 domestic and international media outlets, including those from Uganda, have focused on Yucun, marveling at Anji’s green development.

如今，余村人用流利的英语讲述的一个个绿色故事，都化作一粒粒生态文明的种子，乘着国际传播的东风，在五大洲的土地上生根发芽，让中国智慧为全球可持续发展注入源源不断的绿色动能。

Today, the green stories fluently told in English by the people of Yucun have become seeds of ecological awareness. Riding the wave of international communication, these seeds are taking root and flourishing across five continents, continuously injecting Chinese wisdom and green vitality into the global pursuit of sustainable development.
